Tricks for improving reliability of flying machines with a player rider?

I have an ice farm where the player moves in a flying machine. I can't use a minecart or boat due to the mining speed penalty when riding. Everything is working, but I can't stop my player from clipping through my flying machine while it runs. This didn't happen in my (vanilla) single player creative world, but it's happening constantly on the paper server. This is 1.19.4 with a recent patch level, I have essentials, vault, luckperms, griefprevention, dynmap, geyser, viaversion, viabackwards, and multiverse. I have tested standing on honey with 2 walls next to the honey, standing on honey with slime next to it on each side with stairs facing out, cauldron on honey with water or powdered snow, and all those with slime under the player instead of honey. I am on a beefy server with no other players on, in an area with ~20 entities loaded, and extremely stable 20 tps.

Any general recommendations are appreciated, either in specific configs or suspicious plugin messes.
